Surrender as Thanksgiving

Living in the northern hemisphere of our common home, Earth, the autumn season continues to draw me deeper into nature’s cycle of vulnerability and transformation as deciduous trees choose to let go of their leaves in service of a future life. This beautiful array of color blankets the ground drawing countless people to pause and view the breathtaking glory of dying-to-new-life. On the cusp of this display of chosen death, here in the United States, comes the season of giving thanks followed by the advent of watchful waiting in anticipation and hope of the One-Who-Arrives, Emmanuel, God-With-Us.
