Invitation to Synodality ... Opening Doors

In early December, I had corrective surgery on my right foot. Having had similar surgery last year on my left foot, I realized that there would be minor inconveniences for a couple of months. So, for the past six weeks, I’ve been hobbling around with a “boot” and using a walker. I must admit that I have been in solidarity with many of our sisters around the motherhouse! This has been an opportunity as well to reflect on what may be challenges for those with less mobility. There are the obvious things like depending on people to drive, waiting for an elevator rather than taking the stairs, and spending a bit more time getting dressed. The one challenge, however, that has caused me to do some reflecting is opening doors. While many doors are equipped with automatic openers, there are also many doors that pose a challenge for someone who doesn’t have full mobility.

Lately, I’ve been asking myself what are the doors we are invited to open, perhaps for others, as we look to the future.  (continue reading on page 2 below)
